St. Nicholas' Day, 6th December: Junior Infants

Happy St Nicholas' Day

The 6th of December is St Nicholas' Day.  Still celebrated in many countries.  They celebrate St Nicholas' Day in the Netherlands.  The children leave their shoes outside the doors of their bedroom in the hope that St Nicholas' will leave a present.  He had a reputation for secret gift-giving, such as putting coins in the shoes of those who left them out for him. Teacher left a shoe outside the door of our classroom we will see if St Nicholas' leaves a small gift for our class.

Saint Nicholas' is the patron saint of children.

A visit from Sr. Breda, Senior Infants

Sr. Breda came to visit us today. Our friends in Miss Tierney's class, Mrs Mc Loughlin's class and Mrs Newell's class joined us today for Sr. Breda's visit. We sang some songs for Sr. Breda and we were all very good at answering the questions. It was a lovely visit. Thank you Sr. Breda!

Visit to the Church

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

We learned all about our church today, then took a visit to the church to see could we find the pews and the altar, the holy water font and the tabernacle, the Sanctuary lamp, a statue of Our Lady, candles,
the sacristy bell and a cross, the lecterns, the baptismal font and Paschal candle, and the organ. We learned about St. Oliver Plunkett after whom our church in Renmore is named.
